Herpes y factores demográficos en pacientes atendidos en el Instituto Ecuatoriano de Seguridad Social Jipijapa, 2022 – 2024

Resumen

El herpes constituye una de las infecciones virales crónicas más frecuentes en la población humana, causado por los virus del herpes simple tipo 1 y tipo 2, que presentan la capacidad de permanecer en estado latente. El objetivo general fue analizar herpes y los factores demográficos en pacientes atendidas en el Instituto Ecuatoriano de Seguridad Social Jipijapa. La metodología empleada fue un estudio retrospectivo, transversal y cuantitativo que incluyó 348 pacientes atendidos durante el periodo 2022-2024. Los resultados revelaron que la Tabla 1 demuestra que los grupos más representativos fueron el de 38–47 años con 135 casos (38,79%) y el de 28–37 años con 126 casos (36,21%), concentrando el 74,7%; La tabla 2 que trata sobre de la frecuencia inmunoglobulina M del herpes 1, se encontró un porcentaje general del 6,60%, las mujeres fueron significativamente mayores (87,0%); en la tabla 3 de la prevalencia, se encontró que en el herpes 1, presento una prevalencia general baja (6,60%); la tabla 4 encontró que, en mujeres, los cuatro tipos de anticuerpos muestran valores p < 0,05, indicando asociación significativa, en hombres, la inmunoglobulina M del herpes 2 tiene valor significativo (p = 0,046), el resto son no significativos (p > 0,05). Se concluyó que existió un marcado sesgo de género con predominio femenino; los casos encontrados revelan un patrón epidemiológico con predominio femenino; la prevalencia específica fue del herpes 1 representando el 6,60% y herpes 2 el 9,19% de la población estudiada; hubo asociación entre edad y distribución de casos.
