Prevalencia de infección por virus del herpes simple en gestantes y recién nacidos: factores de riesgo y complicaciones

Resumen

La prevalencia de la infección por el virus del herpes simple en gestantes y recién nacidos constituye un área de interés crucial en la salud materno-infantil.  El objetivo principal del estudio fue analizar la prevalencia de infección por virus del herpes simple en gestantes y recién nacidos, factores de riesgo y consecuencias. Se utilizó una metodología de diseño documental narrativo de tipo descriptivo. Los resultados revelaron que la tasa de prevalencia de herpes simple en mujeres embarazadas en regiones del continente Asiático como China oscila el 81,1%, en recién nacidos, se observó una prevalencia elevada en países como Polonia es del 69%, mientras que en Estados Unidos oscila entre el 7,9 y el 57%; Entre los principales factores de riesgo estaban  la participación en relaciones sexuales con múltiples parejas, la actividad sexual sin el uso de métodos de protección, y la presencia de coinfecciones; En neonatos, las complicaciones comunes abarcaron la afectación del sistema nervioso central, malformaciones congénitas, en las gestantes, las complicaciones más frecuentes fueron el riesgo de parto prematuro, amenaza de muerte materna. Se concluyó que la prevalencia de infección por el virus del herpes simple en gestantes y recién nacidos es variable; la exploración de los factores de riesgo asociados a la infección por el virus del herpes simple en gestantes revela aspectos cruciales para la gestión de la salud materna; las consecuencias más destacables fueron el aumento del riesgo de aborto espontáneo, parto prematuro, lo que puede llevar a condiciones graves como el herpes neonatal.
