It analyzes how migration can act as a catalyst for social mobility, allowing individuals and their families to access better economic, educational and quality of life opportunities. However, barriers that can limit this potential, such as discrimination and labor exploitation, are also highlighted. The review also addresses the challenges of migrant integration, including linguistic, cultural and social barriers, and how inclusive policies and programs can facilitate successful integration. Opportunities arising from integration, such as economic contribution and cultural diversity, are also explored. In addition, public policies that can influence the social mobility of migrants are discussed, highlighting the importance of inclusive policies in education, employment and social welfare to maximize migrants' opportunities and promote equality. The article concludes that a combination of inclusive policies and supportive practices is essential to fully reap the benefits of migration and ensure the social mobility of migrants. The benefits, challenges, and opportunities associated with using these technological tools in the classroom are examined. The review includes an analysis of empirical studies that evaluate the effectiveness of mobile applications in learning, highlighting improvements in academic performance, motivation, and student engagement. Challenges related to technological infrastructure, teacher training, and data security and privacy are also discussed. Mobile app integration offers an opportunity to personalize learning, foster collaboration, and prepare students for the digital future. However, the lack of adequate infrastructure and the need for adequate teacher training are important obstacles that must be overcome to maximize the positive impact of mobile technology in education. The review concludes that, although significant challenges exist, mobile applications have the potential to transform the educational process and improve learning outcomes if implemented effectively. The final recommendation is to promote policies and practices that facilitate the adoption of mobile technology in schools, ensuring equitable access and protection of student data. Additionally, magical realism stands out, characterized by the integration of the magical into the everyday, used by authors such as Gabriel García Márquez and Isabel Allende to explore reality through a fantastic lens. This technique not only enriches the narrative, but also offers a form of cultural resistance, affirming Latin American identity. The review concludes that Latin American literature and creative writing continue to evolve, reflecting the rich and complex history of the region, while challenging and redefining traditional forms of storytelling. In this sense, the impacts of climate change, pollution and human exploitation on the health and resilience of these ecosystems are explored. Under this premise, recent studies are analyzed that demonstrate the recovery capacity of certain species and the importance of marine protected areas. The conservation and sustainable management of marine ecosystems are priority issues to guarantee the continuity of ecosystem services. Conservation strategies, such as the creation of marine reserves and the restoration of critical habitats, are reviewed, as well as the need for integrated policies and international cooperation. In addition, technological innovations in the monitoring and study of marine fauna are discussed, which provide valuable data for decision making. Taken together, this review article offers a comprehensive perspective on the challenges and opportunities in the conservation of marine biological ecosystems, highlighting the need for holistic and collaborative approaches to preserve biodiversity and maintain the functionality of these vital systems. Through a comprehensive review of existing literature, three key aspects are examined: the development of emotional intelligence, fostering resilience in the face of challenges and adversity, and the impact of interpersonal skills on productivity and well-being. Emotional intelligence, which includes self-awareness, self-regulation, motivation, empathy and social skills, is identified as a crucial factor for effective management of emotions and improving communication and collaboration at work. Resilience, meanwhile, is essential to adapt and recover quickly from difficulties, while interpersonal skills, such as effective communication and conflict resolution, are essential to maintaining a positive and productive work environment. La inteligencia emocional, que incluye la autoconciencia, la autorregulación, la motivación, la empatía y las habilidades sociales, se identifica como un factor crucial para la gestión efectiva de las emociones y la mejora de la comunicación y colaboración en el trabajo. La resiliencia, por su parte, es fundamental para adaptarse y recuperarse rápidamente de las dificultades, mientras que las habilidades interpersonales, como la comunicación efectiva y la resolución de conflictos, son esenciales para mantener un ambiente de trabajo positivo y productivo. Este artículo concluye que invertir en el desarrollo de estas habilidades no solo beneficia a los empleados individualmente, sino que también fortalece la organización en su conjunto, mejorando su capacidad para enfrentar desafíos y alcanzar el éxito a largo plazo. Abstract This paper explores the importance of soft skills and resilience in the work environment, highlighting how they contribute to employee wellbeing and productivity. Through a comprehensive review of existing literature, three key aspects are examined: the development of emotional intelligence, fostering resilience in the face of challenges and adversity, and the impact of interpersonal skills on productivity and well-being. Emotional intelligence, which includes self-awareness, self-regulation, motivation, empathy and social skills, is identified as a crucial factor for effective management of emotions and improving communication and collaboration at work. Resilience, meanwhile, is essential to adapt and recover quickly from difficulties, while interpersonal skills, such as effective communication and conflict resolution, are essential to maintaining a positive and productive work environment. This article concludes that investing in the development of these skills not only benefits individual employees, but also strengthens the organization as a whole, improving its ability to face challenges and achieve long-term success. Interventions such as cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), cognitive training, mindfulness, and emerging technologies that offer new opportunities to improve mental health are discussed. The article also addresses the role of stress in cognition and mental health, highlighting how chronic stress can impair cognitive functions and increase the risk of mental disorders. It is concluded that comprehensive stress management strategies and cognitive interventions are essential to promote a healthy cognitive and emotional balance. This paper examines the applications and benefits of this combination, addressing how AI improves data quality and automates processes, while metadata provides context and makes it easier to find information. Ethical and privacy challenges are also discussed, highlighting the need for transparency, accountability and data protection in the use of AI and metadata. The optimization of computer systems through AI and metadata is explored, improving operational efficiency, security and service personalization. TEACHING STRATEGY TO IMPROVE THE ORAL LANGUAGE OF FOURTH GRADE STUDENTS Estrategia didáctica para mejorar el lenguaje oral de los estudiantes de cuarto grado Cobeña Bravo, Karina Janeth lenguaje oral estrategias didácticas educación básica Ecosystems, marine fauna, biodiversity This study addresses the development of oral language in fourth-grade students at the "Cruz del Norte" Educational Unit. The students' difficulties stem from limited vocabulary, pronunciation problems, morphosyntactic errors, and low communicative participation, all associated with insufficient linguistic stimulation and a weak relationship between school and family. The objective was to design a didactic strategy aimed at improving oral language skills. The research employed a mixed-methods approach, with a descriptive scope and a case study design. Techniques included classroom observation, interviews with teachers and parents, and a diagnostic assessment of phonetic-phonological, lexical-semantic, morphosyntactic, and pragmatic dimensions. The results revealed difficulties in all dimensions of oral language, notably articulation problems, a limited vocabulary, inadequate sentence construction, and limitations in communicative interaction. Contextual factors such as a lack of reading habits at home also contributed to the problem. In conclusion, a teaching strategy based on playful, narrative, and collaborative activities was designed, validated by specialists, and considered relevant and viable for strengthening students' communicative competence. El presente estudio aborda el desarrollo del lenguaje oral en estudiantes de cuarto grado de la Unidad Educativa “Cruz del Norte”, cuya problemática se centra en las dificultades en la expresión oral, evidenciadas en un vocabulario limitado, problemas de pronunciación, errores morfosintácticos y baja participación comunicativa, asociadas a la escasa estimulación lingüística y a la débil relación entre escuela y familia; el objetivo fue diseñar una estrategia didáctica orientada a mejorar el lenguaje oral. La investigación se desarrolló bajo un enfoque mixto, de alcance descriptivo y mediante un estudio de caso, aplicando técnicas como la observación áulica, entrevistas a docentes y padres de familia, y una evaluación diagnóstica en las dimensiones fonético-fonológica, léxico-semántica, morfosintáctica y pragmática. Los resultados evidenciaron dificultades en todas las dimensiones del lenguaje oral, destacándose problemas de articulación, vocabulario reducido, construcción inadecuada de oraciones y limitaciones en la interacción comunicativa, además de factores contextuales como la falta de hábitos de lectura en el hogar. En conclusión, se diseñó una estrategia didáctica basada en actividades lúdicas, narrativas y colaborativas, validada por especialistas, considerada pertinente y viable para fortalecer la competencia comunicativa de los estudiantes. PHYSICAL PROPERTIES OF Campnosperma panamensis, Zanthoxylum riedelianum, Allophylus nitidulus, SPECIES OF THE DRY FOREST OF THE PROVINCE OF ESMERALDAS PROPIEDADES FÍSICAS DEL Campnosperma panamensis, Zanthoxylum riedelianum, Allophylus nitidulus, ESPECIES DEL BOSQUE SECO DE LA PROVINCIA DE ESMERALDAS Cervantes Vargas, Frederick Joel Velasco Quiñonez, Joel Indacochea Ganchozo, Blanca Soledad García Rodríguez, Reynier Anisotropía Contenido de humedad Contracción volumétrica Peso específico The objective of this research is to determine the physical properties of three forest species from the tropical dry forest of the Tachina parish, canton and province of Esmeraldas, for which a bifactor experimental research design was applied, and 5 response variables, the results for the Campnosperma panamensis Standl, was: moisture content 9.50%, parked specific weight of 1.06g/cm3, anhydrous specific weight of 0.83g/cm3, tangential and radial shrinkage 1.84 and 2.31 respectively, total volumetric shrinkage of 3.97, shrinkage coefficient of 2.64, T/R shrinkage ratio is 0.80, for Zanthoxylum riedelianum Engl., it was moisture content 9.15%, stationary specific weight 0.88g/cm3, anhydrous specific weight 0.70g/cm3, tangential and radial shrinkage 2.65 and 2.31, volumetric shrinkage total of 5.46, shrinkage coefficient of 0.87, shrinkage ratio T/R is 0.94; and for Allophylus nitidulus it was moisture content 6.33%, parked specific weight 0.88g/cm3, anhydrous specific weight 0.88g/cm3 tangential and radial shrinkage 2.20 and 2.32, total volumetric shrinkage of 4.41, shrinkage coefficient of 1.20, shrinkage ratio T/R is 0.95. The values ​​obtained in the anhydrous apparent specific weight 0.83g/cm3, 0.70g/cm3, 0.88g/cm3 for the three species studied, places them in the category of heavy species, which determines them as resistant species when put into use. service, also from the data obtained for the anisotropy of the total contraction, gave a result for the T/R ratio of 0.80, 0.94 and 0.95, placing these species as very good and stable woods, excellent for putting into service. El objetivo de esta investigación es determinar las propiedades físicas de tres especies forestales del bosque seco tropical de la parroquia Tachina cantón y provincia de Esmeraldas, para lo cual de aplicó un diseño de investigación experimental bifactorial, y 5 variables de respuesta, los resultados para el Campnosperma panamensis Standl, fue: contenido de humedad 9.50%, peso específico estacionado de 1.06g/cm3, peso específico anhidro de 0.83g/cm3, contracción tangencial y radial 1.84 y 2.31 respectivamente, contracción volumétrica total de 3.97, coeficiente de contracción de 2.64, relación de contracción T/R es de 0.80, para el Zanthoxylum riedelianum Engl., fue contenido de humedad 9.15%,  peso específico estacionado 0.88g/cm3, peso específico anhidro 0.70g/cm3, contracción tangencial y radial 2.65 y 2.31, contracción volumétrica total de 5.46, coeficiente de contracción de 0.87, relación  de contracción T/R es de 0.94; y para el Allophylus nitidulus fue contenido de humedad 6.33%, peso específico estacionado 0.88g/cm3,  peso específico anhidro 0.88g/cm3 contracción tangencial y radial 2.20 y 2.32, contracción volumétrica total de 4.41, coeficiente de contracción de 1.20, relación de contracción T/R es de 0.95. Caracterización del bosque húmedo tropical de la comunidad de Playa Grande, cantón Eloy Alfaro, provincia Esmeraldas Joel Velasco Quiñonez Frederick Cervantes Vargas Blanca Soledad Indacochea Ganchozo estructura diversidad especies dominancia structure diversity species dominance The present work was developed in the tropical humid forest of the community of Playa Grande, San José del Cayapas parish, Eloy Alfaro canton, Esmeraldas province. The main objective was to determine the floristic structure and composition through a forest a methodology was developed based on a forest inventory, which would allow identifying the existing forest species, characterizing the horizontal and vertical structure, and interpreting the silvicultural state of the outstanding desirable natural regeneration. Fourteen plots were systematically made, with an area of ​​1,000 square meters each (50 m x 20 m). The dasometric variables of all individuals with DBH ≥ 10 cm were recorded; additionally, total height data (Ht) were collected from each individual. The identification of the species was determined using a local guide or guide and by acquired knowledge, generating absolute and relative tables of abundance, frequency and dominance to obtain the indices of dominance, richness, diversity and ecological importance value index (IVIE). A total of 777 individuals belonging to 63 species distributed in 31 families were found. The most abundant species are Guazuma ulmifolia Lam, Trichospermun spp and Brosimun utile, each with 55 individuals. The most abundant families are Moraceae, with 8 species; Lauraceae, with 5 species; Meliaceae, with 4 species; Fabaceae, Bombacaceae, Malvaceae, Myristicaceae and Sapotaceae, with 3 species respectively. Regarding the forest structure, the species with the greatest absolute dominance are Brosimun utile, Guazuma ulmifolia Lam, Trichospermun spp, Ocotea spp, Pourouma minor Benoist and Apeiba aspera Aubl. The Shannon diversity, Simpson dominance, Margalef richness, and IVIE indices indicate that the forest has high species diversity, relatively uniform structure, and relatively high species richness. El presente trabajo se desarrolló en el bosque húmedo tropical de la comunidad de Playa Grande, parroquia San José del Cayapas, cantón Eloy Alfaro, provincia Esmeraldas. El objetivo principal fue determinar la estructura y composición florística, se desarrolló una metodología basada en un inventario forestal, que permitiera identificar las especies forestales existentes, caracterizar la estructura horizontal y vertical, e interpretar el estado silvicultural de la regeneración natural deseable sobresaliente. Se realizaron catorce parcelas de forma sistemática, con un área de 1,000 metros cuadrados cada una (50 m x 20 m). Se registraron las variables dasométricas de todos los individuos con DAP ≥ 10 cm, adicionalmente se realizó el levantamiento de datos de altura total (Ht) de cada individuo para su posterior análisis y procesamiento. La identificación de las especies se determinó mediante un matero o guía local y por conocimiento adquirido, generando tablas absolutas y relativas de abundancia, frecuencia y dominancia para obtener los índices de dominancia, riqueza, diversidad e índice de valor de importancia ecológica (IVIE). Se hallaron un total de 777 individuos pertenecientes a 63 especies distribuidas en 31 familias. Las especies más abundantes son Guazuma ulmifolia Lam, Trichospermun spp y Brosimun utile, cada una con 55 individuos. Las familias más abundantes son Moraceae, con 8 especies; Lauraceae, con 5 especies; Meliaceae, con 4 especies; Fabaceae, Bombacaceae, Malvaceae, Myristicaceae y Sapotaceae, con 3 especies respectivamente. En cuanto a la estructura forestal, las especies con mayor dominancia absoluta son Brosimun utile, Guazuma ulmifolia Lam, Trichospermun spp, Ocotea spp, Pourouma minor Benoist y Apeiba aspera Aubl. The research problem focuses on determining how formative research contributes to the achievement of the competencies established in the graduate profile of future legal professionals. The general objective was to analyze formative research from the perspective of the graduate profile of Law students at the State University of Southern Manabí. The methodology followed a quantitative approach with a descriptive and field-based scope. A survey was administered to 200 Law students to identify their perceptions regarding the importance of research in their educational process. The results revealed that 85% of the students consider research to be very necessary for their professional training, 10% consider it necessary, and 5% perceive it as having little importance. The discussion highlighted that formative research promotes the development of critical thinking, legal argumentation, analytical skills, and problem-solving abilities, which are essential competencies for legal practice. Likewise, the findings emphasize the need to strengthen strategies that integrate research, teaching, and community engagement. It is concluded that formative research is an essential component for achieving the graduate profile, as it significantly contributes to the development of academic, scientific, and professional competencies required for the comprehensive education of Law students. La presente investigación aborda el tema “La investigación formativa desde la mirada del perfil de egreso de los estudiantes de la Carrera Derecho de la Universidad Estatal del Sur de Manabí”, considerando la importancia de la formación investigativa en el desarrollo de las competencias profesionales. El problema de investigación se centra en la necesidad de determinar cómo la investigación formativa contribuye al cumplimiento de las competencias establecidas en el perfil de egreso de los futuros profesionales del Derecho. El objetivo general consistió en analizar la investigación formativa desde la perspectiva del perfil de egreso de los estudiantes de la Carrera Derecho de la Universidad Estatal del Sur de Manabí. La metodología empleada respondió a un enfoque cuantitativo, con alcance descriptivo y de campo. Se aplicó una encuesta a 200 estudiantes de la carrera para conocer sus criterios acerca de la importancia de la investigación en su proceso formativo. Los resultados evidenciaron que el 85 % de los estudiantes considera que la investigación es muy necesaria para su formación profesional, el 10 % la considera necesaria y el 5 % la percibe como poco necesaria. La discusión permitió identificar que la investigación formativa favorece el desarrollo del pensamiento crítico, la argumentación jurídica, la capacidad de análisis y la resolución de problemas, competencias fundamentales para el ejercicio profesional del Derecho. Asimismo, se destaca la importancia de fortalecer estrategias que integren la investigación, la docencia y la vinculación con la sociedad. Se concluye que la investigación formativa constituye un elemento esencial para el cumplimiento del perfil de egreso, al contribuir significativamente al desarrollo de competencias académicas, científicas y profesionales requeridas en la formación integral de los estudiantes de Derecho. The research followed a quantitative, descriptive approach with a non-experimental, cross-sectional design. A structured Likert-scale survey was applied to a sample of 196 consumers from the urban and rural areas of Jipijapa canton, calculated using the finite population formula. The results showed a positive assessment of the products' local origin, freshness, and price, along with a predominantly favorable purchase intention, although limitations remained regarding availability, packaging, and marketing channels. The cross-tabulation of variables revealed an association between prior knowledge of the product's community origin and purchase intention. It was concluded that San Eloy's products have favorable commercial viability, supported by positive local consumer perception, provided that promotion, packaging, and distribution strategies are strengthened to consolidate their market positioning. El presente estudio tuvo como objetivo analizar la percepción del consumidor y la viabilidad comercial de los productos elaborados con materias primas locales por las mujeres emprendedoras de la comuna San Eloy, parroquia La Unión, cantón Jipijapa, en el marco del proyecto de vinculación orientado a la inserción de la mujer rural en los emprendimientos. La investigación se desarrolló bajo un enfoque cuantitativo, de tipo descriptivo y diseño no experimental transversal. Se aplicó una encuesta estructurada con escala de Likert a una muestra de 196 consumidores de las zonas urbana y rural del cantón Jipijapa, calculada mediante la fórmula de población finita. Los resultados evidenciaron una valoración positiva de los atributos de origen local, frescura y precio de los productos, así como una disposición de compra mayoritariamente favorable, aunque persistieron limitaciones relacionadas con la disponibilidad, el empaque y los canales de comercialización. El cruce de variables mostró una asociación entre el conocimiento previo del origen comunitario del producto y la intención de compra. Se concluyó que los productos de San Eloy poseen una viabilidad comercial favorable, sustentada en la percepción positiva del consumidor local, siempre que se fortalezcan las estrategias de promoción, empaque y canales de distribución que consoliden su posicionamiento en el mercado. La prisión preventiva en el Ecuador: análisis crítico desde los estándares de la Corte Interamericana de Derechos Humanos Mero Ramírez, Kenneth Anthony Almache Paredes, Luis Javier Pretrial detention is the most restrictive precautionary measure in criminal proceedings because it deprives a person of liberty while that person continues to enjoy the constitutional and conventional presumption of innocence. This article critically examines its regulation and application in Ecuador under the standards developed by the Inter-American Court of Human Rights, in dialogue with the Ecuadorian Constitution, the Comprehensive Organic Criminal Code and the case law of the Constitutional Court. The study follows a qualitative, documentary and legal-dogmatic approach based on normative, jurisprudential and doctrinal analysis. The findings show formal convergence between Ecuadorian law and Inter-American standards regarding exceptionality, necessity, proportionality, individualized reasoning, time limits and periodic review. Nevertheless, structural risks remain whenever detention is used automatically because of the seriousness of the charge, public pressure, weak investigations or general deterrence. The article concludes that conventional compliance depends not only on statutory requirements but also on rigorous judicial practice requiring prosecutors to prove concrete procedural risks, expressly rule out less restrictive alternatives and continuously review whether detention remains necessary. La prisión preventiva constituye la medida cautelar más intensa del proceso penal, pues restringe la libertad de una persona que conserva el estado constitucional y convencional de inocencia. El objetivo de este artículo es analizar críticamente su regulación y aplicación en el Ecuador a partir de los estándares desarrollados por la Corte Interamericana de Derechos Humanos, en diálogo con la Constitución, el Código Orgánico Integral Penal y la jurisprudencia de la Corte Constitucional ecuatoriana. La investigación emplea un enfoque cualitativo, documental y jurídico-dogmático, mediante el análisis normativo, jurisprudencial y doctrinal. Los resultados muestran una convergencia formal entre el ordenamiento ecuatoriano y el estándar interamericano en torno a la excepcionalidad, la necesidad, la proporcionalidad, la motivación individualizada, la temporalidad y la revisión periódica de la medida. Sin embargo, persisten riesgos estructurales de desnaturalización cuando se la utiliza como respuesta automática ante la gravedad del delito, la presión social, la insuficiencia investigativa o las finalidades de prevención general. Se concluye que la compatibilidad convencional no depende únicamente de la existencia de requisitos legales, sino de una práctica judicial rigurosa que exija a la Fiscalía acreditar riesgos procesales concretos, descarte de manera motivada las medidas menos gravosas y mantenga un control continuo sobre la necesidad de la privación cautelar de la libertad. In this context, the present study examines the application of artificial intelligence to detect irregularities in Ecuadorian public procurement, using Article 21 of the amended Organic Law of the National Public Procurement System (LOSNCP) as the legal framework. The research problem lies in the inadequacy of the current legal framework to comprehensively regulate the use of these technologies, which may generate legal uncertainty regarding transparency, administrative accountability, and the protection of fundamental rights. The objective of this article is to analyze the relationship between the use of artificial intelligence to detect irregularities and the strengthening of transparency and legal certainty in Ecuadorian public procurement, in light of Article 21 of the amended Organic Law of the National Public Procurement System. The study adopted a qualitative approach, using a documentary review methodology with a descriptive-analytical scope. The literature search was conducted using the Boolean method in specialized scientific databases, considering publications from the last five years. The findings revealed that artificial intelligence facilitates the early identification of risks and irregularities, improves control mechanisms, and strengthens institutional transparency. However, regulatory gaps were also identified concerning algorithmic transparency, auditing of intelligent systems, personal data protection, and legal liability arising from automated decisions. It is concluded that artificial intelligence has significant potential to modernize Ecuadorian public procurement, provided that its implementation is supported by a comprehensive regulatory framework that guarantees legal certainty, due process, human oversight, and the protection of fundamental rights. La incorporación de la inteligencia artificial en la gestión pública ha impulsado nuevas estrategias para fortalecer la transparencia, la eficiencia y el control de los recursos estatales. El problema de investigación radica en la insuficiencia del marco normativo para regular de manera integral el uso de estas tecnologías, lo que puede generar incertidumbre jurídica respecto de la transparencia, la responsabilidad administrativa y la protección de los derechos fundamentales. El objetivo del artículo es:  analizar la relación entre la aplicación de la inteligencia artificial para la detección de irregularidades y el fortalecimiento de la transparencia y la seguridad jurídica en la contratación pública ecuatoriana, a partir del artículo 21 de la Ley Orgánica del Sistema Nacional de Contratación Pública reformada. La investigación se desarrolló con un enfoque cualitativo, mediante una metodología de revisión documental y un alcance descriptivo-analítico. La búsqueda bibliográfica se realizó mediante el método booleano en bases de datos científicas especializadas, considerando publicaciones de los últimos cinco años. Los resultados evidenciaron que la inteligencia artificial favorece la identificación temprana de riesgos e irregularidades, mejora los mecanismos de control y fortalece la transparencia institucional; sin embargo, también se identificaron vacíos normativos en materia de transparencia algorítmica, auditoría de sistemas inteligentes, protección de datos personales y responsabilidad jurídica derivada de decisiones automatizadas. La inteligencia artificial constituye una herramienta de alto potencial para modernizar la contratación pública ecuatoriana, siempre que su implementación esté respaldada por un marco regulatorio que garantice la seguridad jurídica, el debido proceso, la supervisión humana y la protección de los derechos fundamentales. El estudio se sustentó en la revisión sistemática de la literatura científica, normativa y jurisprudencial publicada entre 2021 y 2026 en bases de datos como SciELO, Redalyc, Dialnet y Latindex, empleando los métodos analítico-sintético y hermenéutico-jurídico para la construcción de categorías temáticas. Los resultados evidenciaron que el derecho de alimentos se articula con principios como el interés superior del niño, la responsabilidad parental compartida y la solidaridad familiar, y que persisten vacíos normativos relacionados con la extinción de la obligación alimentaria en hijos mayores de edad que cursan estudios superiores, así como con los mecanismos de exigibilidad y cumplimiento. El análisis comparativo entre Ecuador, Colombia y Perú mostró diferencias significativas en los límites etarios y en la efectividad procesal de las pensiones alimenticias. Se concluyó que la protección integral de la familia exige una lectura sistémica del derecho alimentario que trascienda la dimensión patrimonial e incorpore el enfoque de derechos humanos y la corresponsabilidad estatal. Estos hallazgos podrán orientar futuras reformas legislativas destinadas a garantizar la exigibilidad efectiva del derecho de alimentos. Sin embargo, en diversas instituciones educativas aún se evidencian dificultades en la comprensión de textos, especialmente entre los estudiantes de Educación Básica Elemental, quienes presentan limitaciones para identificar ideas principales, realizar inferencias y expresar con sus propias palabras el contenido leído. En la Unidad Educativa Manuela Cañizares, esta problemática se evidencia en el bajo desempeño lector de varios estudiantes, lo que repercute en el aprendizaje de las diferentes áreas del currículo. El objetivo de esta investigación fue analizar la incidencia de las estrategias didácticas innovadoras en el fortalecimiento de la comprensión lectora de los estudiantes de Educación Básica Elemental de la Unidad Educativa Manuela Cañizares. La investigación se desarrolló con un enfoque mixto, con alcance descriptivo y un diseño no experimental de corte transversal. La institución cuenta con una población de 210 estudiantes, de los cuales 46 pertenecen a Educación Básica Elemental y constituyen la población objeto de estudio. Para la recolección de información se emplearon una prueba diagnóstica, encuestas, fichas de observación y entrevistas a docentes, cuyos resultados se analizaron mediante estadística descriptiva. Los resultados evidenciaron que un porcentaje importante de estudiantes presenta dificultades en los niveles literal, inferencial y crítico de la comprensión lectora, por lo que se concluye que la aplicación de estrategias didácticas innovadoras favorece el desarrollo de habilidades lectoras, incrementa la motivación y mejora significativamente el rendimiento académico. In Ecuador, this protection has undergone significant constitutional, legal, and jurisprudential development, moving beyond a strictly contractual understanding of employment relationships and recognizing that job loss during pregnancy or breastfeeding may place women and their children in a particularly vulnerable situation. This study analyzed the legal scope of enhanced employment stability for pregnant and breastfeeding women against dismissal in Ecuador, considering the Constitution of the Republic, the Labor Code, the Organic Law on the Human Right to Care, and the jurisprudence of the Constitutional Court. A qualitative, documentary, and legal-dogmatic research design was applied using analytical-synthetic, exegetical, hermeneutical, and jurisprudential methods. The documentary search used the Boolean operators AND, OR, and NOT to select legislation, case law, and specialized literature. The results show that enhanced employment protection does not guarantee indefinite permanence but rather provides special protection against termination decisions directly or indirectly related to pregnancy, maternity, or breastfeeding. Recent constitutional jurisprudence has expanded and clarified this protection regarding temporary contracts, freely appointed and removable positions, public companies, and special emergency employment contracts. It is concluded that Ecuador has developed a significant protective legal framework, although its effectiveness depends on the proper application of legal guarantees, adequate reasoning of termination decisions, and recognition of maternity and care as responsibilities that transcend the exclusively private sphere. La estabilidad laboral reforzada de las mujeres embarazadas y en período de lactancia constituye una garantía esencial para hacer efectivos los derechos al trabajo, a la igualdad, a la no discriminación, a la maternidad y al cuidado. En Ecuador, esta protección ha experimentado un importante desarrollo constitucional, legal y jurisprudencial que supera una visión estrictamente contractual de la relación laboral y reconoce que la pérdida del empleo durante el embarazo o la lactancia puede colocar a la mujer y a su hijo o hija en una situación de especial vulnerabilidad. El objetivo de este estudio fue analizar el alcance jurídico de la estabilidad laboral reforzada de las mujeres embarazadas y en período de lactancia frente al despido en Ecuador, considerando la Constitución de la República, el Código del Trabajo, la Ley Orgánica del Derecho al Cuidado Humano y la jurisprudencia de la Corte Constitucional. Se desarrolló una investigación cualitativa, documental y jurídico-dogmática, mediante los métodos analítico-sintético, exegético, hermenéutico y jurisprudencial. La búsqueda documental empleó operadores booleanos (AND, OR y NOT) para seleccionar normativa, jurisprudencia y literatura especializada. Los resultados evidencian que la protección laboral reforzada no constituye una garantía de permanencia indefinida, sino una tutela especial frente a decisiones de desvinculación relacionadas, directa o indirectamente, con el embarazo, la maternidad o la lactancia. La jurisprudencia constitucional reciente ha ampliado y precisado esta protección en contratos ocasionales, cargos de libre nombramiento y remoción, empresas públicas y contratos especiales emergentes. Se concluye que Ecuador dispone de un marco jurídico protector significativo, aunque su efectividad depende de la correcta aplicación de las garantías, de la motivación de las decisiones de desvinculación y de la comprensión de la maternidad y el cuidado como responsabilidades que trascienden el ámbito exclusivamente privado. However, when one of the partners dies without the relationship having been formally recognized beforehand, proving its existence may become a significant legal and human challenge. In this context, two interests requiring equal protection converge: the surviving partner's right to have a shared life recognized and the heirs' right to ensure that the estate is not altered by claims lacking sufficient evidentiary support. This study analyzed the judicial declaration of a post-mortem de facto union in Ecuador, with particular emphasis on its legal effects, evidentiary difficulties, and impact on legal certainty. The research adopted a qualitative, documentary, and legal-dogmatic approach, supported by analytical-synthetic, exegetical, hermeneutic, and jurisprudential methods. The literature review used the Boolean operators AND, OR, and NOT across academic, legal, and case-law sources. The findings show that the main issue is not the legal recognition of a post-mortem union itself, but establishing clear criteria to prove the actual existence of stability, monogamy, cohabitation, and a shared life project. It is concluded that the protection of the surviving partner and the legal certainty of the heirs are not incompatible interests, provided that there is an adversarial process, a comprehensive assessment of the evidence, and enhanced judicial reasoning. La unión de hecho constituye una expresión legítima de la diversidad familiar reconocida por el ordenamiento jurídico ecuatoriano. Sin embargo, cuando uno de los convivientes fallece sin que la relación haya sido formalizada previamente, demostrar su existencia puede convertirse en un verdadero desafío jurídico y humano. En ese escenario confluyen dos intereses que merecen igual protección: el derecho del conviviente sobreviviente a que se reconozca una vida construida en común y el derecho de los herederos a que el patrimonio sucesorio no sea modificado mediante pretensiones carentes de suficiente respaldo probatorio. El objetivo del presente estudio fue analizar la declaratoria judicial de la unión de hecho post mortem en Ecuador, con énfasis en sus efectos jurídicos, las dificultades probatorias y su incidencia en la seguridad jurídica. La investigación asumió un enfoque cualitativo, documental y jurídico-dogmático, apoyado en los métodos analítico-sintético, exegético, hermenéutico y jurisprudencial. La búsqueda bibliográfica se realizó mediante los operadores booleanos AND, OR y NOT en fuentes académicas, normativas y jurisprudenciales. Los resultados muestran que el problema no radica en reconocer jurídicamente la unión post mortem, sino en establecer criterios suficientemente claros para acreditar que realmente existieron estabilidad, monogamia, convivencia y un proyecto de vida común. Se concluye que la protección del conviviente sobreviviente y la seguridad jurídica de los herederos no constituyen intereses incompatibles, siempre que exista un proceso contradictorio, una valoración integral de las pruebas y una motivación judicial reforzada. La valoración de la prueba electrónica en los procesos judiciales ecuatorianos: desafíos y garantías procesales Ponce Cañarte, Luis Alfredo Manrique Merchan, Vilma Veronica prueba electrónica prueba digital valoración probatoria debido proceso autenticidad integridad The progressive digitalization of social, economic, and legal relations has resulted in an increasing number of facts submitted to judicial proceedings being documented through data messages, emails, instant messaging conversations, digital files, photographs, videos, computer records, and other electronically generated or stored content. This transformation poses particular challenges for evidence law because the legal recognition of an electronic document does not, by itself, determine its evidentiary weight in a specific case. This article analyzes the legal framework for assessing electronic evidence in Ecuador, with particular attention to legality, authenticity, integrity, reliability, adversarial examination, and judicial reasoning. The research followed a qualitative approach and a documentary and legal-dogmatic design based on the analysis of the Constitution of the Republic of Ecuador, the General Organic Code of Proceedings, the Comprehensive Organic Criminal Code, the Electronic Commerce, Electronic Signatures and Data Messages Act, relevant case law and institutional criteria, as well as specialized legal literature. The findings show that Ecuadorian law broadly recognizes electronic evidence but distributes its regulation among different legal instruments and treats proceedings governed by the General Organic Code of Proceedings and criminal proceedings differently. Assessing electronic evidence cannot be reduced to merely viewing a screenshot or digital file. Courts must jointly examine its legality, provenance, authenticity, integrity, context, technical reliability, and the opposing party's effective opportunity to challenge it. In criminal proceedings, these requirements become stricter under rules governing digital forensic techniques and the chain of custody. La progresiva digitalización de las relaciones sociales, económicas y jurídicas ha provocado que una parte creciente de los hechos sometidos a conocimiento judicial se encuentre documentada mediante mensajes de datos, correos electrónicos, conversaciones mantenidas a través de aplicaciones de mensajería instantánea, archivos digitales, fotografías, videos, registros informáticos y otros contenidos generados o almacenados electrónicamente. Esta transformación plantea dificultades particulares para el derecho probatorio, pues el reconocimiento jurídico de un documento electrónico no determina, por sí mismo, su fuerza probatoria en un caso concreto. El presente artículo analiza el régimen jurídico aplicable a la valoración de la prueba electrónica en Ecuador, con especial atención a las condiciones de licitud, autenticidad, integridad, fiabilidad, contradicción y motivación judicial. La investigación se desarrolló bajo un enfoque cualitativo, mediante un diseño documental y jurídico-dogmático, basado en el análisis de la Constitución de la República del Ecuador, el Código Orgánico General de Procesos, el Código Orgánico Integral Penal, la Ley de Comercio Electrónico, Firmas Electrónicas y Mensajes de Datos, la jurisprudencia y los criterios institucionales relevantes, así como la literatura jurídica especializada. Los resultados evidencian que el ordenamiento ecuatoriano reconoce ampliamente la prueba electrónica, pero distribuye su regulación entre distintos cuerpos normativos y establece tratamientos diferenciados entre los procesos sometidos al Código Orgánico General de Procesos y al proceso penal. Se concluye que la valoración de la prueba electrónica no puede reducirse a la mera visualización de una captura de pantalla o de un archivo digital, sino que exige examinar conjuntamente su licitud, procedencia, autenticidad, integridad, contexto, fiabilidad técnica y posibilidad efectiva de contradicción. En materia penal, estas exigencias se intensifican mediante las reglas sobre técnicas forenses digitales y la cadena de custodia. Mejoramiento de la estructura de panes enrollados del Ecuador por ultracongelado Pinos Flores, Patricio Xavier This article proposes improving the structure of traditional Ecuadorian rolled bread by applying the ultrafreezing technique as a technological alternative to optimize the preservation and quality of laminated doughs. The objective is to establish a procedure that allows maintaining characteristics of structure, volume, texture, aroma, and flavor, favoring early production and subsequent baking. Dough preparation was carried out by controlling ingredient weight and using a yeast resistant to low temperatures and water at 3 °C. Kneading did not exceed 6 minutes at 50 to 80 RPM, using a 50-pound, 1200 W mixer. Commercial flour available in Ecuador was used, with a protein content of 12% to 14%, suitable for laminated doughs. The final dough temperature was kept below 10 °C, reaching approximately 70% gluten development. Subsequently, the dough was laminated using a quick or Scottish fold and subjected to single and double turns to achieve a uniform structure. The shaping and manual cutting of the rolled bread was done in the open air, followed by flash freezing at approximately −40 °C for 30 minutes. The products were packed, labeled, and stored. El presente artículo propone mejorar la estructura del pan enrollado tradicional del Ecuador mediante la aplicación de la técnica de ultracongelación, como alternativa tecnológica para optimizar la conservación y la calidad de las masas laminadas. El objetivo es establecer un procedimiento que permita conservar las características de la estructura, el volumen, la textura, el aroma y el sabor, favoreciendo la producción anticipada y el horneado posterior.La elaboración de la masa se realizó mediante el control del gramaje de los ingredientes, empleando una levadura resistente a bajas temperaturas y agua con hielo a 3 °C. El amasado no superó los 6 minutos, a una velocidad de 50 a 80 RPM, utilizando una amasadora de 50 libras y 1200 W. Se empleó harina comercial disponible en Ecuador, con un contenido proteico de 12 % a 14 %, adecuada para masas laminadas. La temperatura final de la masa se mantuvo por debajo de 10 °C y alcanzó aproximadamente un 70 % de desarrollo del gluten. Posteriormente, la masa fue laminada mediante empaste rápido o escocés y sometida a las vueltas simples y dobles para obtener una estructura uniforme. Se realizó el formado y el cortado manual al aire del pan enrollado, seguido de la ultracongelación a aproximadamente −40 °C durante 30 minutos. Los productos fueron empacados, etiquetados y almacenados. This article analyzes the limits of criminal intervention in alleged medical malpractice cases and argues that criminal law should operate as an exceptional, subsidiary, and last-resort mechanism, rather than as the ordinary channel for claims arising from every medical harm. The objective is to determine the dogmatic, normative, and criminal-policy criteria that justify reserving criminal punishment for technically serious cases in which the creation of a prohibited risk, the realization of that risk in the outcome, and a normative causal link are proven. The methodology is qualitative, documentary, dogmatic-legal, and comparative between Ecuador and Colombia. Este artículo analiza los límites de la intervención penal en casos de presunta mala práctica médica y sostiene que el Derecho Penal debe operar como mecanismo excepcional, subsidiario y de última ratio, mas no como vía ordinaria de reclamo ante todo daño médico. El objetivo es determinar los criterios dogmáticos, normativos y político-criminales que justifican reservar la sanción penal para supuestos técnicamente graves, en los que se acrediten la creación de riesgo no permitido, la realización del riesgo en el resultado y el nexo normativo, y optar por vías extrapenales para determinar responsabilidades. La metodología es cualitativa, documental, dogmática-jurídica y comparativa entre Ecuador y Colombia. Se concluye que la reparación civil integral ofrece, en la mayoría de los casos, una respuesta más proporcional, útil y compatible con los fines garantistas del sistema jurídico. The objective of this study was to conduct a comprehensive forest inventory of Vicente Amador Flor Park, located in the historic center of Portoviejo, to determine its floristic richness and estimate the amount of CO₂ stored in the aboveground biomass of woody vegetation. A descriptive, quantitative, cross-sectional field study was conducted through a systematic survey of the area, individual tree identification, measurement of diameter at breast height (DBH) and total height, and biometric processing using the pantropical allometric equation proposed by Chave et al. (2014). Wood-density values were obtained from the Global Wood Density Database, a worldwide database that provides density values by tree species and contributes to more accurate estimates of aboveground biomass. The general inventory recorded 129 individuals; of these, 51 individuals, representing 19 species and eight botanical families, were included in the biometric analysis. A total of 433.78 kg of aboveground biomass and 216.89 kg of stored CO₂ were reported according to the calculation convention adopted. Caesalpinia tinctoria (Cascol) accounted for the largest contribution, at 44.70%, followed by Cassia siamea (15.37%) and Plumeria rubra (13.81%). The results demonstrate that, even within a relatively small urban area, trees can provide significant ecological, landscape, cultural, and educational value. In this context, Rotary for the Environment, in alignment with the environment as one of Rotary’s areas of focus, connected community action with scientific knowledge through the environmental minga and the impact map, conceived as tools for environmental awareness and education. This experience strengthens shared civic responsibility and demonstrates the potential of community partnerships for conserving Portoviejo’s urban natural heritage. Los parques urbanos constituyen infraestructuras ecológicas capaces de articular la conservación, el bienestar ciudadano, la identidad local y la educación ambiental. El objetivo del estudio fue realizar el inventario forestal integral del Parque Vicente Amador Flor, ubicado en el centro histórico de Portoviejo, para determinar su riqueza florística y estimar la cantidad de CO₂ almacenada en la biomasa aérea de la vegetación lignificada. Se desarrolló un estudio descriptivo, cuantitativo, de campo y de corte transversal, mediante un recorrido sistemático del área, identificación de individuos, medición del diámetro a la altura del pecho (DAP) y altura total, y procesamiento biométrico con la ecuación alométrica pantrópica de Chave et al. (2014), utilizando densidades de madera de la Global Wood Density Database, base mundial que proporciona valores de densidad según las especies y permite mejorar la estimación de la biomasa aérea. El inventario general registró 129 individuos; de ellos, 51, correspondientes a 19 especies y ocho familias botánicas, fueron considerados en el análisis biométrico. El informe técnico reportó 433,78 kg de biomasa aérea y 216,89 kg de CO₂ almacenado bajo la convención de cálculo adoptada. Caesalpinia tinctoria (Cascol) concentró el mayor aporte reportado, con 44,70 %, seguida de Cassia siamea (15,37 %) y Plumeria rubra (13,81 %). Los hallazgos evidencian que, aun en una superficie urbana reducida, el arbolado posee un valor ecológico, paisajístico, cultural y educativo significativo. En este contexto, la iniciativa Rotary por el Ambiente vinculó el conocimiento científico con la acción comunitaria, mediante la minga y el mapa de impacto como herramientas de sensibilización y educación ambiental. Esta experiencia reafirma el compromiso de Rotary con el ambiente como una de sus áreas de interés y promueve la corresponsabilidad ciudadana en la conservación del patrimonio natural de Portoviejo.
