Chronic Kidney Failure (CKD) significantly affects the health of the world's inhabitants. Being a silent disease, its detection occurs in advanced stages. Patients who enter hemodialysis as renal replacement therapy have health complications in the process and in some cases are influenced by external factors not directly related to the treatment. The objective of this research was to identify levels of association between sociodemographic and dietary variables with complications of patients on hemodialysis. The analytical observational research method of cases and controls with a quantitative approach was applied. The sample was 113 patients, including 55 for cases and 58 for controls. The variables studied were age, sex, educational level, residence, work activity, economic income, with whom they live and who takes care of their treatments, BMI, and the complications presented. The method used to calculate the association of variables was the ODDS RATIO. In the results and conclusions, statistical significance was found in 4 factors and in the remaining variables no statistical significance was observed, therefore the null hypothesis is accepted, the data obtained from the socio-demographic factors influence the generation of complications in patients with CKD on hemodialysis.
