Abstract

This case study at the Antonio José de Sucre Educational Unit during the 2021-2022 academic year investigates the learning dynamics and teaching strategies in Mathematics for fourth grade students. Focused on addressing the causes of poor academic performance and improving teaching through innovative methods, the study uses a blended approach to assess student performance and perceptions with observed pedagogical practices. Data collection techniques included surveys, grade record analysis, and nonparticipator classroom observation. The results show that while the majority of students understand the usefulness of mathematics and complete the assigned activities, there is a lack of active and collaborative participation. The limited integration of information and communication technologies (ICT) and the need for teaching strategies that promote interaction and group work are also highlighted. Despite these challenges, students exhibit high levels of motivation and the majority achieve good academic results, suggesting the effectiveness of certain pedagogical strategies implemented. The study concludes that it is essential to develop and apply teaching methods that more actively involve students and that adequately integrate ICT to improve the learning experience and educational results in Mathematics.
