Abstract

This paper examines the applicability and relevance of Andragogy in the context of higher education. It focuses on how to encourage adult learners to engage in meaningful and independent learning, for which andragogy theories and approaches are examined. By focusing on collaboration and facilitation, andragogy is seen as a theoretical framework that allows teachers to act as mentors and guides in the learning process rather than merely transmitters of knowledge. The real-world application of andragogy is discussed, including the use of flexible program design, the integration of educational technologies, formative assessment, and the development of enhanced learning environments. The advantages of an andragogic higher education are emphasized, including improving problem-solving skills, critical thinking, decision-making, and adaptability, as well as overcoming difficulties and obstacles such as resistance to change and the need to specialized teacher training.
