Podcast content preferences, case: students of the Technical University of Cotopaxi (FCAyE)

The main objective of this study is to identify podcast content preferences among students of the Faculty of Administrative and Economic Sciences at the Technical University of Cotopaxi, located in Latacunga. To achieve this, a survey was conducted with 1.202 students from various programs within the faculty, including Business Administration, Marketing, Economics, Finance, and Human Talent Management. The research focuses on exploring the different activities, contexts, and motivations that influence the choice of podcasts over digital media. Preliminary results show that most participants are between 18 and 24 years old and are familiar with the concept of podcasts. Regarding thematic preferences, comedy genres stand out as the most popular among students. Additionally, the home was identified as the mosts frequent place to listen to podcasts, which may be related to the comfort and privacy this setting offers for consuming content. On the other hand, the most commonly used device to Access podcasts is the smartphone, due to its ease of use and portability. These findings contribute to a better understanding of the dynamics of podcast consumption among young university students with key information for future studies on digital media and their applications in educational and recreational field.
