The main objective of the research was to determine the effectiveness of gamification in improving academic performance and motivation of students in Language and Literature. It was carried out in an Educational Unit in Latacunga, Ecuador, where second-year students of Basic Education were involved. The methodology included the implementation of various interactive digital tools, such as Kahoot and Genial.ly, and covered a period of 12 classes in which gamified activities were carried out that integrated playful elements into the language and literature curriculum. Through comparative evaluations before and after the intervention, as well as surveys that collected the perceptions of teachers and experts, a positive impact was evident both on academic performance and on student engagement. The results showed a notable increase in grades and a high acceptance of gamification by the participants, who highlighted its potential to make learning more attractive and motivating. This research highlights the importance of adopting innovative methodologies such as gamification in teaching, not only to improve performance, but also to foster a more dynamic and participatory educational environment.
