Clinical utility of findrisk and glycosylated hemoglobin in the early detection of type 2 diabetes mellitus in adults from a Private Laboratory in Quevedo

Abstract

The diabetes mellitus term (DM) is described as a metabolic disorder of multiple etiologies, characterized by chronic hyperglycemia with disturbances in the metabolism of carbohydrates, fats and proteins and resulting from defects in the secretion and/or action of insulin. This research aims to evaluate the clinical usefulness of findrisk and glycosylated hemoglobin in the early detection of type 2 diabetes mellitus in adults from a private laboratory in Quevedo. The research was an observational, descriptive-prospective, cross-sectional study with a mixed, non-experimental approach, it included: men and women from 22 to 59 years old and patients from the Goodlab laboratory, patients with a diagnosis of type 1 and 2 diabetes were excluded. pregnant women and patients with other diseases. Diabetes risk assessment using the FINDRISK questionnaire and regular monitoring of glycosylated hemoglobin levels are fundamental elements in preventive medical care and disease management. According to the result of the chi-square, it was determined that there is no direct relationship between the risk scales of the findrisk test and the result of glycosylated hemoglobin, it is considered that the variables are independent according to the pathology.
