Abstract

Through blood tests with validated and reliable data on uric acid as a predictive factor of preeclampsia, it has been possible to contribute to the prevention and diagnosis of this hypertensive disorder which, due to its complications, is considered one of the main causes of maternal-fetal morbidity and mortality in the world. In relation to the above, this research was developed with the aim of determining the relationship between uric acid levels and the occurrence of preeclampsia from 20 weeks of gestation in patients attended at the Hospital Básico Divino Niño during the period 2024. The methodology applied was of quantitative approach, non-experimental design and a retrospective research process, in which a representative census sample of 124 clinical histories of women who were attended in the year 2023 at the Hospital Básico Divino Niño was studied. In the results obtained, we found a higher frequency represented by 33.9% of women between 26 and 29 years of age. In 100% of the cases studied, the pregnant women had levels between 5 mg/dl and 6 mg/dl in the first 20 weeks of gestation. After 20 weeks of pregnancy, a significant prevalence of 66.1% of cases of preeclampsia was found in the group. In conclusion, it can be synthesized that elevated uric acid levels represent a predictive biomarker of this disorder that notoriously affects women during pregnancy.
