Abstract

Liver cirrhosis, a condition characterized by irreversible scarring of liver tissue, can have significant implications on patients' hematological and metabolic systems. The aim of the research was to analyze the main hematological and metabolic disorders in patients with liver cirrhosis. The methodology used was documentary and descriptive, which implies the systematic collection of information to deepen the research. The results showed that; the prevalence of the disease reached 66% in territories such as the United States, in China this disease ranged from 44.15 to 65.9%, in Ecuador the statistics ranged from 562-70.3%, Stockholm 47% and Colombia 35%. The main hematological disorders in these patients were thrombocytopenia, decreased clotting factors, anemia, pancytopenia, prolonged coagulation times, and fibrinogen alterations; the most frequent metabolic disorders observed during liver cirrhosis are: insulin resistance, dyslipidemias, diabetes mellitus, obesity, and hypertension. It was concluded that the various prevalence rates reflect a notable difference between geographical regions and underscore the need to develop prevention and treatment strategies adapted to the specific conditions of each country; Hematologic alterations underscore the complex interconnection between compromised liver function and imbalances in blood composition; patients experience a wide range of metabolic disorders, these findings underscore the need for a comprehensive approach that addresses not only liver complications.
