Abstract

The examination of the oral cavity is essential to discover different congenital malformations. The early detections can help to begin an appropriate medical or surgical therapy, this way prevent complications that can affect the life of the patient. Some of the malformations of oral cavity includes median mandibular clef, micrognathia, cleft lip and palate, lateral facial cleft and epulis. These malformations are the result of errors in embryogenesis or intrauterine events that disturbs fetal growth. This article is a review of the embryogenesis’s processes and the specific malformation with their description, management, and radiologic imaging approach for early detection.
