Abstract

Intestinal parasites have been a significant public health concern, especially in areas with limited sanitary conditions, parasitic infections can lead to a variety of health problems, including malnutrition, anemia, and cognitive development problems, especially in children. This study aimed to determine the incidence of intestinal parasitosis in the 4 de diciembre neighborhood of the Jipijapa canton during the year 2024. The methodology applied was descriptive, prospective cross-sectional during the year 2024, where 180 inhabitants of the 4 de Diciembre neighborhood were included. The results revealed that the prevalence of parasitism was 25% in the population studied, with a predominance of monoparasitism in 24% over polyparasitism of 1% with a maximum of 2 spices per person. The range of ages with the highest prevalence of parasitosis was from 11 to 20 years old and from 31-40 years, each with 17.78% of cases. It was concluded that the prevalence of intestinal parasitosis in the 4 de Diciembre neighborhood of the Jipijapa canton, although lower than in other studies, is a significant public health problem, with a frequency of 25%.
