Cocaine use remains a significant public health problem worldwide. This widely used illicit recreational drug is associated with serious cardiovascular complications. This study focuses on the impact of cocaine use in patients with Acute Coronary Syndrome (ACS), and preventive interventions to reduce associated risks. The objective of the study was to determine whether cocaine use associated with ACS has an impact on the patient's mortality prognosis compared to ACS without cocaine use. This study was carried out under a mixed approach, which used a descriptive, observational and ambispective methodology, which carried out a non-probabilistic convenience sampling due to the specific nature of the population and the hospital context with patients under 50 years of age treated in the cardiology service of the UAI University Hospital, admitted to the Coronary Unit with a diagnosis of Acute Coronary Syndrome (ACS) and cocaine use from December 2012 to December 2018. compared the clinical and cardiological characteristics of 39 patients with ACS and a history of cocaine use with those of 39 patients with ACS without a history of cocaine use. The results showed a significant difference of 11.54% in the mortality of patients with ACS associated with cocaine use (ACS-ACC), with three in-hospital deaths and six out-of-hospital deaths, and risk factors and complications associated with cocaine use were identified.
