The research presented the importance of the TORCH test in pregnant women in the first trimester, since it is a group of tests that serve to detect various etiological agents such as rubella, toxoplasmosis, cytomegalovirus, herpes, syphilis, and Chagas disease in pregnant. The general objective was to assess TORCH and its relationship with congenital infections in pregnant women at the Jipijapa canton Health Center. The methodology used was observational and descriptive with a prospective cross-sectional approach, which allowed for the analysis of a sample of 66 pregnant women. The results showed that among the ages of 18 to 41, the highest frequency was found in mothers between 25 and 29 years old (36.4%), with a normal weight due to a healthy diet (83.3%). However, the health risk showed concern in the consumption of unsafe water (6.1%), followed by the presence of intra-domestic animals (7.6%). The tests for these infections in this group of pregnant women, different pathogens were identified such as Toxoplasmosis (45.5%), Cytomegalovirus (15.2% of positive cases), Herpes-1 with seropositivity in 83.3%, Herpes-2 with positivity in 22.7%, and finally Syphilis, which showed 3% of positive cases. It is concluded that TORCH infection presents a risk factor for pregnant women, especially in cases of herpes.
