Hyperuricemia is a metabolic disorder characterized by the excessive accumulation of uric acid in the bloodstream, a condition that can trigger pathologies such as gout, chronic kidney disease, and high blood pressure. In Ecuador, a sustained increase in its incidence has been observed, especially in individuals with comorbidities such as obesity, diabetes, and cardiovascular disease. This study aimed to analyze hyperuricemia in patients treated at the Jipijapa Ecuadorian Social Security Institute from 2024 to 2026. A quantitative approach was used, with a descriptive, retrospective, and cross-sectional design. The findings revealed that most patients had serum uric acid levels within the physiological range. However, cases of hyperuricemia were more frequently identified in older women, while men tended to show higher concentrations. A moderate influence of sex and a slight influence of age on uric acid levels was observed, highlighting the relevance of these demographic factors in the variability of the results. It is concluded that, although the majority of the population evaluated maintains normal uric acid levels, the identification of cases with biochemical alterations emphasizes the importance of establishing early detection and clinical follow-up strategies to mitigate the risk of future complications.
