Abstract

This study focuses on sexual harassment in an Ecuadorian university, highlighting its prevalence and the consequences for victims and the academic environment. Through a detailed analysis of a survivor's case, it seeks to understand underlying dynamics and institutional responses. This approach, by providing a personal narrative, promotes empathy and understanding beyond statistics. Additionally, it aims to identify patterns to inform prevention strategies and cultural change. The study underscores that sexual harassment erodes the integrity of universities and, therefore, not only exposes issues but also offers insights and recommendations for prevention and the creation of safe environments. The significance of this research lies in the transformation of universities into spaces of gender equality and freedom from sexual harassment, emphasizing the urgency of addressing this issue in higher education institutions.
