Prostate profile as an indicator of prostate cancer in patients over 45 years old treated at Dr. Julio Villacreses Hospital Colmont, 2024

One of the most prevalent oncological diseases among men over 45 years of age is prostate cancer. For its analysis and detection, Prostate Specific Antigen tests are considered, which are essential for its evaluation. The overall objective of this research was to analyze the prostate cancer profile in patients over 45 years of age treated at the Dr. Julio Villacreses Colmont Hospital in 2024. The study methodology was observational, non-experimental, quantitative, retrospective, and cross-sectional. Within the results obtained in the study, it was identified that, within the prostate profile, total and free Prostatic Specific Antigen levels were recorded within the normal range, that is, with a concentration of less than 4.00 ng/ml. However, a third of the population had high levels of Prostate Specific Antigen, concentrations greater than 4.00 ng/ml. The prevalence of prostate cancer has an important epidemiological burden, since it was calculated at 18%. In conclusion, early identification of prostate abnormalities through PSA testing and the free-to-total PSA ratio is essential for improving prostate cancer prevention and control strategies.
