Abstract

The analysis of demographic characteristics and liver profiles allows for the identification of health and disease patterns within a population, contributing to improved diagnosis, monitoring, and management of liver diseases. The objective of this study was to determine the demographic characteristics and liver profile of patients at the "MV" Clinical Laboratory. A non-experimental, quantitative, analytical, descriptive, cross-sectional, and retrospective methodology was applied to 250 patients. The main results included age and sex as demographic characteristics, with a predominance of patients over 34 years of age (42.4%), followed by those aged 35 to 43 years (13.6%). Liver profile levels were identified: normal alanine aminotransferase (52.4%), elevated aspartate aminotransferase (60.4%), normal total bilirubin (88.8%), and normal gamma-glutamyl transferase (74.8%). and in the relationship of the liver profile according to age and sex, it was found that there was no significant association with age and sex (p = > 0.05), there was only a relationship between aspartate aminotransferase and sex (p = 0.009). It was concluded that age is not associated with the levels of alanine aminotransferase, aspartate aminotransferase, total bilirubin and gamma glutamyl transferase; while sex only presented an association with the level of aspartate aminotransferase.
