Citoqueratina 18 como un biomarcador emergente para el diagnóstico no invasivo de la esteatohepatitis no alcohólica

Resumen

La citoqueratina 18 (CK-18) es una proteína del citoesqueleto presente en los hepatocitos, cuyo estudio ha cobrado relevancia clínica como posible biomarcador no invasivo para el diagnóstico de la esteatohepatitis no alcohólica. Se realizó una revisión bibliográfica cuyo objetivo fue analizar el valor diagnóstico de la citoqueratina 18 como un biomarcador no invasivo para la esteatohepatitis no alcohólica. La variedad de estudios revisados evidencia que la CK-18 tiene utilidad diagnóstica para la detección de EHNA, al analizarla en conjunto con otros biomarcadores inflamatorios; sin embargo, no existen valores estandarizados de referencia de la CK-18, lo que dificulta su interpretación clínica. Se concluye que la CK-18 adquiere un valor diagnóstico superior cuando se emplea como parte de paneles no invasivos, contribuyendo a un diagnóstico más preciso y temprano de la esteatohepatitis no alcohólica.
