TDAH y control parental en adolescentes infractores: una revisión de la literatura

Resumen

No existe un resumen de la literatura en español sobre los factores de riesgo y de protección asociados a la violencia y a la criminalidad en adolescentes, específicamente aquellos que han sido diagnosticados con déficit de atención e hiperactividad (TDAH). El propósito de este resumen es proveer una revisión sintetizada sobre estos temas. Se realizó una búsqueda de artículos académicos en la base de datos de EBSCO. Se incluyó también información obtenida de varios manuales de diagnóstico y de organizaciones. En total se utilizaron 124 recursos para esta revisión. Hay una mayor probabilidad que adolescentes se involucren en actos criminales cuando los síntomas de TDAH coexisten con déficits verbales, consumo de sustancias o con cuadros clínicos de ansiedad. Síntomas de TDAH y conductas agresivas se incrementan en hogares con padres permisivos. Intervenciones tempranas en adolescentes, destinadas al desarrollo de la autoestima, autoconfianza, habilidades sociales e interés en la educación pueden ser de ayuda para adolescentes en riesgo. Reglas claras dentro de la familia, y una comunicación directa entre padres e hijos, reducirían también el riesgo de conductas delictivas en adolescentes diagnosticados con TDAH.
