LATIN AMERICAN LITERATURE AND CREATIVE WRITING
Keywords:

This paper analyzes the influence of history and culture in Latin American literature, creative writing techniques in contemporary narrative, and magical realism as a distinctive element. It explores how the history and cultural diversity of Latin America have shaped its literature, reflecting an amalgamation of indigenous, African and European traditions. Creative writing techniques used by contemporary authors are examined, such as fragmentation, dirty realism, intertextuality, and genre hybridization, which challenge traditional narrative conventions. Additionally, magical realism stands out, characterized by the integration of the magical into the everyday, used by authors such as Gabriel García Márquez and Isabel Allende to explore reality through a fantastic lens. This technique not only enriches the narrative, but also offers a form of cultural resistance, affirming Latin American identity. The review concludes that Latin American literature and creative writing continue to evolve, reflecting the rich and complex history of the region, while challenging and redefining traditional forms of storytelling.
