Abstract

This paper addresses the crucial role of public health in disease prevention, focusing on three main aspects: primary prevention strategies, the importance of health education and the role of epidemiological surveillance. First, various primary prevention strategies are discussed, such as vaccination, promotion of healthy eating habits, and regular physical activity, which are essential to prevent the onset of diseases before they occur. Next, we examine how health education empowers people with the knowledge necessary to make informed decisions about their health, promoting the adoption of healthy practices and the prevention of chronic diseases. Finally, epidemiological surveillance is explored, a key tool for disease identification and monitoring, allowing rapid response to outbreaks and evaluation of the effectiveness of public health interventions. This article highlights the importance of a comprehensive and coordinated approach to disease prevention, highlighting how these three interconnected areas contribute significantly to public health. It concludes that a combination of effective prevention strategies, health education and robust epidemiological surveillance is essential to improve population health and reduce the burden of disease.
