Publication Rights for Authors

Generally, the copyright holder of an article or essay is the original creator or author of the manuscript.

The Author(s) declare that they are the author(s) and legitimate holder(s) of the intellectual property rights to the article/essay and that, in that capacity, they wish to collaborate with the scientific journal PROciencias, published semi-annually by the Ecuadorian Society for Scientific Research.

Therefore, freely, voluntarily, and free of charge, the Author(s) assign the publication rights to the Ecuadorian Society for Scientific Research, so that it may reproduce, edit, publish, distribute, and make the work available via intranets, the internet, or CD, without any limitation of form or time, and with the express obligation to respect and acknowledge the author(s) in any use made of it.

It is understood that this authorization is not an assignment or transfer of any of the author(s)'s economic rights to the aforementioned institution, nor is it an exclusive license, as it will only be valid for one year from the date of publication.

A common misconception is that manuscripts published online are in the public domain and, therefore, can be freely used by anyone without the copyright holder's authorization. The PROciencias Scientific Journal is protected regardless of whether it has been published in print or online. In all cases, authorization from the copyright holder must generally be obtained before use, outside of the license stipulated by the Ecuadorian Society for Scientific Research.

The Ecuadorian Society for Scientific Research adheres to a general attribution license granted on its website, designated CC-BY-NC-SA, Creative Commons License Attribution-NonCommercial-ShareAlike 4.0 International.
