Access and reuse policies - Creative Commons License

From its inception, the Ecuadorian Society for Scientific Research, through its scientific journal PROciencias, has published a large number of titles under open access licenses, which are already available on the journal's official website via the Open Journal System (OJS) platform. Over the coming months, this digital collection will continue to grow with new international publications.

Most of these titles are open access under a specially adapted Creative Commons license, which allows any user to download, copy, distribute, translate, reuse, adapt, and develop their content free of charge. The only conditions required for granting the attribution license known as CC-BY-NC-SA are the following:

The scientific journal PROciencias must be clearly identified as the copyright holder of the original publication; and
Any derivative work must be published and distributed under the same open access license as the original publication.

Creative Commons licenses are contract templates that grant the public right to use copyrighted material. The fewer restrictions a license imposes, the greater the possibilities for using and distributing the content.

The open access publications of the PROciencias Scientific Journal require additional conditions for the use of their content. These additional conditions depend on the type of license granted, as explained below:

Users may remix, transform, and build upon the content of our publication for non-commercial purposes, provided that any derivative work is distributed under the same CC-BY-NC-SA license. The PROciencias Scientific Journal must be clearly identified as the copyright holder of the original publication. Any commercial use of the content of our publication requires the prior written authorization of the Editor.
