Abstract

This study evaluated the impact of the PhET Interactive Simulations platform on teaching chemical bonding to second-year high school students. Using a mixed-method quasi-experimental approach, pre- and post-intervention tests were administered, along with hands-on activities and perception surveys. Fifty-eight students from La Porciúncula Educational Unit participated. The results revealed a notable increase in learning and conceptual understanding, as well as greater motivation and interest in the subject. Students perceived PhET as a dynamic and useful tool for visualizing abstract processes. It is concluded that its use strengthens meaningful learning, elevates academic performance, and represents an innovative and effective strategy for teaching chemistry
