Anthropometric, biochemical, immunological, and hematological nutritional profiling of the pediatric population in Morán Lucio parish

Child malnutrition was considered a public health problem, derived from insufficient or poor-quality nutrition, unfavorable socioeconomic conditions, and limited access to health services. This situation affected both the physical growth and the cognitive and immunological development of children. The objective of the research was to characterize the anthropometric, biochemical, immunological, and hematological nutritional status of the child population of Morán Lucio parish. The study used a mixed strategy, was non-experimental, descriptive, cross-sectional in time, and prospective. Children under five from the parish made up the target group, and 21 patients were chosen at random to make up the sample. Parents were surveyed, and children underwent direct examinations that included anthropometric, biochemical, and immunological tests in addition to information on eating habits, meal frequency, physical activity, and family norms. Thirteen (61.89%) of the twenty-one youngsters surveyed were marginally female, according to the findings. They didn’t all go to school, lived in cities, and had good dental health. It was noted that their parents set boundaries for the family and promoted regular exercise and a balanced diet. It was shown that family traditions had a significant impact on the children's nutrition, therefore ongoing observation and parent education are essential to prevent malnutrition.
