This article addresses the relevance of effective health communication strategies and educommunication in the context of palliative care for older adults, a constantly growing population segment. Based on a mixed approach, the research analyzes both the communicative dynamics between patients, their caregivers and the health team. The study was carried out in the El Retiro parish, El Oro, Ecuador, taking as a reference the social project for care for older adults. The findings highlight the importance of promoting frequent, meaningful and adapted communication, emphasizing the use of clear, simple, direct and verbal language as the selected medium. In addition, the crucial role of empathy and active listening is underlined in strengthening the bond between the actors involved. The implementation of training for health professionals and caregivers, together with the collaboration of community agents, is emerging as an essential strategy to guarantee the care of this vulnerable group.
