ABSTRACT
In recent decades, organizational sustainability has established itself as a strategy for transforming higher education, supported by diverse conceptual approaches to sustainable development. Consequently, the primary objective of this study was to identify the dimensions of organizational sustainability in higher education through a systematic literature review to create a comprehensive conceptual framework that serves as a reference for future research. The study involved analyzing 40 articles indexed in the Web of Science (WoS) database and published between 2020 and 2026. Five dimensions were identified: governance and sustainable leadership, organizational management for sustainability, innovation and digital transformation, sustainable performance management, and the institutional integration of sustainability. Governance and sustainable leadership emerged as the dimension with the strongest support in the literature, highlighting the role of senior management in incorporating sustainability into institutional planning; additionally, significant interest was observed regarding digital transformation, knowledge management, performance assessment, and the cross-cutting integration of sustainability into the core functions of Higher Education Institutions (HEIs).
Keywords: organizational sustainability, higher education, sustainable governance, university management, sustainable development.
