Instituciones de Educación Superior y Objetivos de Desarrollo Sostenible: tenencias de investigación y aportes

La Agenda 2030 sitúa a las instituciones de educación superior como actores clave ante los desafíos globales. El objetivo de este estudio fue analizar las tendencias y aportes de las universidades frente a los Objetivos de Desarrollo Sostenible en el marco de la Agenda 2030. Se empleó un enfoque cuantitativo-descriptivo con análisis bibliométrico sobre 817 publicaciones de Web of Science (2015–2025). La red de coocurrencia en VOSviewer (full counting) identificó 193 ítems, 3.788 enlaces y una fuerza total de enlace de 7.367, distribuidos en nueve clústeres temáticos. Los resultados muestran un crecimiento exponencial a partir de 2021, acumulando para el 2025 un total de 227 publicaciones, con alta concentración en revistas como Sustainability (17.10 %) e International Journal of Sustainability in Higher Education (11.00 %). El mapa temático evidencia una alta densidad en la dimensión pedagógica e institucional, mientras que los aspectos de inclusión social y ética aplicada permanecen escasamente examinados. Las contribuciones se articulan en formación curricular, gestión e infraestructura de campus e investigación con impacto social. Se concluye que las universidades trascienden la simple divulgación de contenidos, consolidándose como plataformas integrales de transformación que articulan gobernanza interna, innovación y compromiso sostenible.

ABSTRACT
Agenda 2030 positions higher education institutions as key players in addressing global challenges. This study aimed to analyze university trends and contributions regarding the Sustainable Development Goals within the framework of Agenda 2030. A quantitative-descriptive approach was employed, utilizing a bibliometric analysis of 817 publications from the Web of Science (2015–2025). The co-occurrence network in VOSviewer (full counting) identified 193 items, 3,788 links, and a total link strength of 7,367, distributed across nine thematic clusters. Results show exponential growth starting in 2021, reaching a total of 227 publications by 2025, with a high concentration in journals such as Sustainability (17.10%) and the International Journal of Sustainability in Higher Education (11.00%). The thematic map reveals high density in pedagogical and institutional dimensions, whereas aspects of social inclusion and applied ethics remain under-examined. Contributions are structured around curricular training, campus management and infrastructure, and research with social impact. The study concludes that universities transcend the mere dissemination of content, establishing themselves as comprehensive platforms for transformation that integrate internal governance, innovation, and a commitment to sustainability.
