Approach to the study of a group of autist schools

Abstract

Autism is considered a developmental disability that affects, according to statistical studies, one in every thousand births, establishing said disability at birth or within two and a half years (rarely three years) of life. The present work shows the results of investigations carried out in two samples of autistic children of school age who attend the Educational Institution "15 de Octubre" of the Jipijapa canton. The main objective of it is the characterization of these groups of autistics to know the peculiarities they present and to know their similarity with what is reported in the classical literature on this profound developmental disorder. Similarities with it were found and each of the characteristics found was analyzed, providing an analysis in this regard. The psychological work of these children and people constitutes a very important aspect within special psychology, because despite the fact that this disability has been working in the country for a short time, it constitutes a challenge for national and international science, deciphering all the enigmas that exist around her. It is the task of the psychologist to help these people to integrate into society and contribute to the acceptance of their disability. It is also necessary to work with the family because autism is a developmental disability that affects the entire family nucleus. Scientific research methods such as bibliographic review, interview, observation, survey, were used to assess the qualitative-quantitative results.
