Integration of technology in mathematics education: advantages and challenges

The integration of technology in mathematics education has shown significant benefits, such as improving the understanding of abstract concepts, personalizing learning and fostering critical thinking. Tools such as mathematical software and interactive platforms allow students to explore problems in a dynamic and visual way, which facilitates their understanding. In addition, educational technologies offer the possibility of adapting content to the individual needs of students, promoting more inclusive learning. However, their implementation faces several challenges. The digital divide is one of the main obstacles, as it limits access to technologies, especially in rural areas and developing countries. Moreover, the lack of adequate training for teachers and the risk that technology will replace traditional pedagogical methods instead of complementing them are additional challenges. Despite these challenges, the integration of technologies in mathematics education can transform education by prioritizing inclusive access, fostering continuous teacher training and improving student motivation for a digitized environment. To maximize its benefits, it is essential to combine traditional pedagogical strategies with new technological tools in a balanced way.
