This study analyses the relationship between educommunication and the educational processes of emerging digital generations at the Cerezal Bellavista Educational Unit, a rural institution in Santa Elena, Ecuador. Using a mixed descriptive approach, a Likert questionnaire (α = 0.729) was administered to 91 technical high school students (94 valid questionnaires) and semi-structured interviews were conducted with teachers and students. The results show that educommunication practices have a positive impact on motivation and critical thinking: 80.9% value the critical analysis of digital messages (M = 3.95) and 78% report functional appropriation of pedagogical tools (M = 3.90). However, gaps remain: 20.2% report difficulties in recognising misinformation (M = 3.60), highlighting a gap between self-perception and effective competence. Triangulation confirms that educommunication is a relevant pedagogical framework for rural contexts, provided that it is articulated with sustained institutional policies.
