Collective trauma: social work in mental health and the welfare of vulnerable communities

Collective trauma has a significant impact on the mental health and welfare of vulnerable communities, causing disorders such as post-traumatic stress, depression and anxiety. This trauma fragments social networks and aggravates suffering and hopelessness. Social work interventions are essential to mitigate these effects, providing emotional support, strengthening the social fabric and promoting community resilience. In this article, theoretical aspects about the impact of collective trauma will be addressed and social work interventions will be analyzed from a comprehensive and holistic approach. Social workers address both the symptoms of trauma and its underlying causes, helping communities overcome challenges and build a healthier, more cohesive futureg.
