Audiovisual tools to strengthen the teaching-learning process in students of Basic General Education

Abstract

The incorporation of audiovisual tools in Basic General Education was recognized as a highly important pedagogical resource, as it fostered motivation, content comprehension, and skills development in students. This work is linked to the research project “Strengthening the Didactic-Pedagogical Level of Teachers in Educational Institutions of the Jipijapa Canton” and the outreach project “Literacy and Integration of ICT in Pedagogical Practices of Educational Units and Communities in Southern Manabí” and interculturality. The study aimed to design and evaluate a didactic strategy based on audiovisual resources, aimed at enhancing the teaching-learning process in seventh-grade students of Basic General Education. The methodology was based on a mixed-methods approach with an exploratory sequential design. In the first phase, the didactic proposal, supported by theoretical frameworks, was developed and implemented in the classroom; Subsequently, the results were evaluated through participant observation, semi-structured interviews, and Likert-type questionnaires, supplemented with comparative academic tests. The results demonstrated that the integration of audiovisual materials enhanced attention, stimulated creativity, and facilitated the assimilation of concepts, contributing to the construction of meaningful learning. It was concluded that audiovisual resources constituted a relevant and effective strategy for improving educational quality by promoting interaction between teachers and students and strengthening the development of competencies in Basic General Education.
