Playful activities are presented as a methodological alternative in the teaching-learning process, bringing dynamism and innovation in order to enhance learning and the development of artistic skills. Therefore, the research objective was to implement playful activities for teaching visual arts. Hence, a quantitative approach and a quasi-experimental method were chosen, allowing for the collection and analysis of data through pre- and post-activities based on the development of artistic skills in relation to drawing, painting, and modeling techniques using legends from the Pujilí canton. A population of 14 eighth-grade students from the "Francesco Bernardone" Basic General Education school was also considered, dividing the population into 2 focus groups: 7 students in the controlled focus group and 7 students in the uncontrolled focus group. The research took into account drawing techniques (the 8-head technique and linear perspective technique) and the modeling technique (subtraction technique). On the other hand, during the development of the activities, students had deficiencies in applying drawing, painting, and modeling techniques. Additionally, after the pedagogical intervention, a considerable improvement in performance was observed in the controlled focus group. In contrast, the uncontrolled focus group, not having undergone the intervention, showed no significant improvement. The research demonstrates that the implementation of playful activities benefits the teaching of visual arts. In conclusion, the application of playful activities is essential in methodological teaching strategies related to visual arts because they enhance students' abilities during the learning process and encourage better learning productivity.
