Abstract

The Technical State University of Quevedo (UTEQ) is dedicated to the continuous improvement of educational quality, recognizing that teachers' pedagogical practices are essential to achieve this goal. However, the effective implementation of these practices faces significant challenges, mainly due to social and economic inequalities. The present research aims to analyze the impact of social and economic inequalities on the educational opportunities and academic performance of UTEQ students. The research is based on the premise that teachers' pedagogical practices are a crucial factor in improving educational quality. It employs a mixed methodological approach, combining quantitative and qualitative methods, and data was collected from teachers and students through surveys and interviews. The results reflect that social and economic inequalities have a negative effect on students' motivation and academic expectations, as well as on access to essential educational tools. Analysis of the data reveals that current pedagogical practices fail to address these barriers, limiting equitable learning opportunities. In this regard, the research not only identifies obstacles, but also proposes concrete strategies that teachers can implement to overcome these difficulties and improve their students' performance.
