The round table in the development of oral expression

The problem studied focused on the difficulties experienced by eighth-grade students at the "Sagrado Corazón de Jesús" Educational Unit in oral expression during academic presentations, specifically in verbal fluency, discourse coherence, argumentation, and appropriate use of oral language, during the 2025–2026 academic year. The objective of the study was to determine the impact of the roundtable discussion as a didactic strategy to strengthen oral expression in this group. The research was conducted using a quantitative approach, with a quasi-experimental, descriptive-explanatory, and field-based design, applied in the real classroom context. The sample consisted of twenty-five students selected intentionally. Data collection methods included structured observation, diagnostic and final tests, and closed-ended questionnaires, the results of which were analyzed comparatively. The results obtained showed significant improvements in verbal fluency, discourse organization, argumentation, appropriate use of language, and respect for speaking turns during academic presentations. In conclusion, the round table is consolidated as an effective teaching strategy to strengthen oral expression and promote more reflective and structured communicative participation in the educational process.
