Strengthening learning in Public Basic Education in Jipijapa: guided homework and psychopedagogical support in academic performance

The present research is based on the analysis of the main results of the diagnosis applied during the initial phase of the linkage project of the Education program, titled: Directed Tasks and Psychopedagogical Support to Strengthen the Learning of Students in Public Basic Education in Jipijapa. The feasibility of these strategies as tools to improve student learning was evaluated. The research is closely linked to other related projects, such as the research project: Improvement of Pedagogical Practices in Educational Institutions in the Southern Zone of Manabí, and the second phase of the linkage project, which will be carried out in 2024. The research employed a mixed-methods approach, combining quantitative analysis of academic results with qualitative assessments of participants' experiences. It was conducted in five educational units in the Jipijapa and Puerto López cantons, focusing on core curriculum subjects. In total, pedagogical instruments were applied to 600 students, strengthening the teaching-learning process for 1,050 students. The results revealed a positive impact of the interventions, particularly in the subjects of Mathematics and Language and Literature, whose averages were considered very good. However, significant variations were observed between institutions and subjects, suggesting the influence of contextual factors on the effectiveness of the implemented strategies. These findings demonstrate the feasibility of directed tasks and psychopedagogical support in improving academic performance, while also identifying areas of opportunity for future interventions in the local educational context.
