In this research work, the importance of factoring in the development of critical mathematical thinking was analyzed. The objective was to understand that factoring is an important component in the development of critical mathematical thinking. The study was based on a quantitative approach, using documentary analysis and the application of a survey. Factoring plays an extremely important role in the development of analytical and problem-solving skills that require logical reasoning, which drives the development of logical and critical thinking. It was also examined how an understanding of factoring not only facilitates the resolution of algebraic problems but also fosters analytical and reasoning skills that are fundamental for advanced mathematical thinking. Once the topics of the importance and how factoring influences the development of cognitive skills within the mathematical field have been analyzed and detailed, this will be put into practice by selecting one or more groups of students to observe and analyze their learning process of factoring. After this, progress in the development of critical thinking skills will be assessed through tests, interviews, and analysis of student work. Finally, surveys were conducted among teachers and students to gather their perceptions and experiences regarding the importance of factoring in the development of critical mathematical thinking. The results were summarized using statistical tools to validate the results and draw meaningful conclusions. The study's findings will be highlighted, highlighting the importance of factoring in the development of critical mathematical thinking.
