Teaching Strategy for the development of logical-mathematical thinking in education students

Abstract

The development of logical-mathematical thinking in education students is essential for perfecting mathematical skills and abilities, helping graduates in Educational Sciences promote competence and strengthen participation in the teaching-learning process of mathematics. This work is articulated with the research project "Strengthening the didactic-pedagogical level of teachers in educational institutions in the Jipijapa canton" and the linkage projects: "Directed tasks and psychopedagogical support to strengthen student learning in Public Basic Education in Jipijapa. Phase III 2025, "Literacy and integration of ICTs in pedagogical practices of educational units and communities in southern Manabí" and interculturality, whose approach analyzes the importance of the development of thinking in the teaching-learning process in students, the objective of designing a didactic strategy in the teaching-learning process for the development of logical-mathematical thinking in students of the education career at the State University of Southern Manabí. The research has a mixed methodological approach, achieving a holistic understanding of logical-mathematical thinking in third-semester Education students. A descriptive and exploratory design was adopted, which allowed characterizing the perceptions Students' responses to the teaching strategy. Data collection was conducted through digital surveys administered to a purposive sample of 139 students, with field observations that enriched the contextual analysis of the process. The research results contribute positively to professional development and the creation of accessible and inclusive mathematical educational environments.
